The Subdivision

Te Hihi Estate has 22 sections altogether.

The stunning new Te Hihi Stream Estate has been formed on land which has been owned by the Mulligan family since the mid-1950s.

The 3ha property was originally purchased by Bob and Jean Mulligan with the intention of building a new home. However this didn’t eventuate, as they purchased another property just up the road from Whangarei Base Hospital where Bob (now retired) was an esteemed surgeon for close to three decades.

Over the years the newly developed Te Hihi Estate has undergone many transformations. In the 1970’s a partnership was formed between Bob and his eldest son Bruce to grow kiwifruit – Bob jokingly had “visions of becoming a kiwifruit millionaire”. In later years the kiwifruit came out and the tamarillos went in.

More recently the orchard has been redeveloped into the fantastic residential subdivision you see today. It boasts 22 fantastic fully serviced building sites, some featuring historic stone walls and all with the spectacular views of the Western Hills.

Te Hihi Stream Estate was named for the nearby Te Hihi Stream which was the source of irrigation for the orchard during the time that it was in kiwifruit and tamarillo production ... an apt acknowledgement of earlier days.
